AI study copilot · Canvas LMS

Your Canvas workload, handled.

Canvas Pilot lives inside Canvas in your browser. Open an assignment, set your target, hit Go. Let it run hands-off on autopilot, or flip on Review Before Submit to check every answer first — either way, anything it isn't sure about gets flagged so you know exactly what to double-check.

02Setup

Running in under a minute.

Two small installs and a paste. No account creation, no app download, nothing on your school's side.

STEP 1

Install Tampermonkey + the script

Add the free Tampermonkey extension, then load Canvas Pilot into it. Works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.

Full step-by-step on the Install page →
STEP 2

Paste your license key

Open any Canvas course page and the panel appears in the bottom-right. Paste the key from your email and activate.

STEP 3

Open an assignment and hit Go

Canvas Pilot recognizes quizzes, essays, and discussions on the page and drafts answers and explanations for you to review.

iMost schools use school.instructure.com and it works automatically. If your school runs Canvas on its own domain (like learn.school.edu), the script detects it on your first visit and adds it with one tap. You only do this once.

03Coverage

Know exactly what you're getting.

No tool covers everything, and we'd rather tell you upfront than surprise you after checkout. Here's the honest map.

What it's built for
  • Canvas quizzes: multiple choice, matching, dropdowns, true/false, fill-in
  • Canvas essays and short-answer questions
  • Canvas discussion posts and replies
  • Google Docs assignments linked from Canvas
  • Any school's Canvas (custom domain? add it in one tap)
Not supported
  • Proctored or lockdown-browser exams. Not supported; keep it off monitored tests
  • Third-party tools inside Canvas: Pearson / MyMathLab, ALEKS, WebAssign, McGraw-Hill Connect, IXL, Edgenuity, Wiley
  • Questions where you draw or plot the answer (interactive graphing and free-draw widgets), file uploads, and video responses
🟡 Attempts it — and tells you what to double-check. Figure & diagram geometry, charts and graphs, and tricky math word problems are read from a picture, so even great AI can misread them. Canvas Pilot still answers these — but anything it isn't sure about is flagged right on the page for you to check, never silently guessed. That's the whole point: you always know which answers to trust and which to glance at. The four categories above are what it's built to nail; these are the honest "best-effort" extras.
💻 Runs on your computer. Canvas Pilot installs as a browser extension on any Windows, Mac, or Linux computer — set it up there once and it works on your Canvas every time you log in. On your phone right now? No problem — grab your plan and set it up on your laptop later. Just note it can't install on school-managed Chromebooks (school IT blocks extensions) or directly on phones and tablets, so skip it if a school Chromebook is all you have.

05FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything worth knowing before you start.

What is Canvas Pilot?

An AI study copilot that lives in your browser. Open any Canvas assignment and it gives you concept explanations and suggested answers to review: quizzes, essays, discussions, short answer, and fill-in-the-blank. You stay in control and review everything before you submit.

Will it run on my device?

It needs a personal Windows, Mac, or Linux computer where you can install a browser extension. School-managed Chromebooks block extensions, and phones and tablets can't install them at all. If you only have a school Chromebook, please don't purchase: it won't install.

What browsers does it work with?

Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. You just need the free Tampermonkey extension. Setup takes about two minutes, and the steps are on the Download page.

What if it doesn't turn on at my school?

Almost every school works automatically, even ones with a custom web address like canvas.ucsd.edu, because Canvas Pilot recognizes Canvas itself, not the address. In the rare case it doesn't switch on, copy your Canvas link from the address bar (a full assignment link is fine) and paste it into the "Add my school" box: the settings panel in the browser script, or the field in the desktop app. It keeps just your school's domain and turns on. Full steps are on the Troubleshooting page.

Is it safe?

Yes. Your license key and account are tied to you and validated securely, your info stays private, and it never runs on its own: it only acts when you click Go, so you're in control on every page. Use your own account and keep your key to yourself.

What does it not help with?

It's built for text-based Canvas work, so a few things it leaves to you, and it flags them instead of guessing: charts, graphs, and drawing questions; Google Docs and Slides (it drafts the content, you place it); and third-party tools embedded inside Canvas (Pearson, ALEKS, WebAssign, and similar). The full breakdown is in the coverage section above.

How many accounts can I use my key on?

A student key works on 1 account; a service key works on up to 5 at once. Old logins free up automatically after 24 hours, so using it once on a school computer won't burn a slot.

I didn't get my key, or I lost it.

Check your email spam folder first. Still missing? Open a ticket in our Discord with the email you purchased with and we'll sort it out.

Can I share or resell my key?

No. Keys are tied to you, and sharing or reselling deactivates the key.

Need a refund or have a payment issue?

Open a ticket in our Discord and we'll help. Please reach out before filing a chargeback: we'll make it right.
