Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before purchasing or using Canvas Pilot. By purchasing a license key, installing, or using the Canvas Pilot software or website (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you may use the Service only with the involvement and verifiable consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use. We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to use the Service or provide personal information; see the Privacy Policy for how we handle children's data.
By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide (including your email) is accurate.
Canvas Pilot is a browser-based AI assistant that helps users interact with Canvas LMS and related educational platforms. The software uses artificial intelligence to assist with reading, drafting, and preparing responses to assignments, quizzes, and discussions.
Canvas Pilot is provided as a productivity and study tool. We make no guarantee that answers or content generated will be accurate, complete, current, or appropriate for your specific coursework. AI output may be wrong and must be reviewed by you before use.
When you purchase a Canvas Pilot license key, you are granted a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the software for personal, individual use during the license period. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
You agree that you will not:
Your license key is your credential for the Service and is bound to your email address on first use. You are responsible for keeping it confidential and for all activity under your key. To prevent abuse, the Service enforces concurrent-use limits: Student keys are limited to one Canvas account and a small number of devices; Service keys permit up to five accounts and devices, as described at purchase. Inactive device slots may be automatically recycled after a period of inactivity (currently about 24 hours) so you can move between your own devices. Exceeding or attempting to evade these limits may result in suspension or revocation without refund.
You acknowledge that using AI assistance for academic work may violate your school's academic integrity policy, honor code, or applicable rules. Canvas Pilot is a tool, and you are solely responsible for how you choose to use it and for ensuring your use complies with all rules that apply to you.
Canvas Pilot, its creators, and its operators accept no liability for any academic consequences, disciplinary action, grade changes, suspension, expulsion, or other outcomes arising from your use of the Service. By purchasing or using the Service, you accept full responsibility for your use.
License keys are sold as one-time purchases for a fixed period (for example, day, week, month, or year tiers). Purchases are not recurring subscriptions and do not auto-renew; access ends when the period expires unless you purchase again. Prices are shown at checkout and may change for future purchases. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card details. You are responsible for any applicable taxes.
7-day refund window for activation issues. If, within 7 days of purchase, Canvas Pilot will not activate on your school's Canvas or you experience a technical issue that prevents the tool from functioning as described, contact us at support@canvaspilot.org or on Discord and we will issue a full refund. Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
Outside that 7-day window, all sales are final because license keys are delivered digitally and consumed by ongoing AI usage costs. If a key is proven to be defective or was never delivered at any point during its validity period, a replacement key will be issued at no cost.
Refunds are not offered for: change of mind after the 7-day window, completed usage of the licensed period, account/key sharing that triggers our concurrent-use limits, or use of the Service in violation of these Terms.
The Service, including the Canvas Pilot software, website, name, logo, and all related content, is owned by Canvas Pilot and its operators and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a license to use the Service, not any ownership of it. "Canvas," "Instructure," "Google," and other product names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only for identification; see Section 9.
Canvas Pilot is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instructure (Canvas), Google, Anthropic, or any school, district, or other platform it interacts with. Your use of those platforms remains governed by their own terms. The Service relies on third-party providers (listed in the Privacy Policy); we are not responsible for their availability, acts, or omissions.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will work on your specific school's Canvas installation, browser, or device, that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI-generated answers will be correct, complete, or appropriate. You use the Service at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Canvas Pilot and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, grades, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to academic penalties, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Canvas Pilot and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party (including any school or platform's policies).
Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights.
Informal resolution first. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at support@canvaspilot.org and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
Binding arbitration. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and Canvas Pilot agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. The arbitration will be conducted by a recognized arbitration provider under its applicable consumer rules.
Class-action waiver. You and Canvas Pilot agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent applicable, the state in which the operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, and revoke a license key, at any time if you violate these Terms, exceed or attempt to evade usage limits, or use the Service unlawfully. We may also discontinue the Service as described in Section 15. On termination for cause, no refund is owed. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5, 8, 10–13, and 16) will survive.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time. We may update the software, change features, or adjust pricing for future purchases. Where reasonable, your existing license period will be honored through its expiration date.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect (severability). These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Canvas Pilot regarding the Service (entire agreement). You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor (assignment). Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of it (no waiver).

This Privacy Policy explains what information Canvas Pilot ("we," "us") collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Canvas Pilot website and software. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
When you use the Service, it sends the content needed to generate a response — such as question text, answer choices, reading passages, and images from the assignment — to our AI provider (Anthropic) through our server. This content is also subject to the AI provider's terms (see Sub-processors below).
We store this assignment content — including question text, answer choices, the answer the Service produced, and assignment images (such as charts and graphs) — on our servers. We use it to measure and improve answer accuracy, build and maintain quality-test fixtures, and diagnose failures. Stored content is associated with a one-way hash of your license key and the software version — not your name or email. Access is restricted to the operator. We retain it for a limited period — currently up to 30 days — after which it is deleted automatically on a daily schedule; you can also request earlier deletion at any time. If you would like your stored content removed, contact support@canvaspilot.org.
About the "Hide Personal Info" setting: this option visually blurs your name and course titles in the Canvas interface on your screen. It is a cosmetic display feature only — it does not change or redact the assignment content that is sent to AI providers.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Assignment content is sent to Anthropic through its developer API to generate responses. Anthropic states that data submitted through its API is not used to train its models by default. Your content is nonetheless processed by them and is subject to their policy: Anthropic.
We rely on the following providers to operate the Service. Each processes only the data needed for its function:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing | Email, payment details |
| Resend | Transactional email (key delivery) | Email, license key |
| Supabase | Database for license/usage data | Email, key, device/account IDs, telemetry |
| Anthropic | AI answer generation | Assignment content (also stored by us — see the Assignment Content section) |
| PostHog | Product analytics | Email or hashed key, usage events |
| Docs/Slides integration (OAuth) | Document content you choose, access tokens (session only) | |
| Cloudflare | Bot/abuse protection (Turnstile) at checkout | Verification token, IP |
| Railway | Server hosting | Service traffic / processing |
| Wolfram Alpha | Optional math solving (only if you enable it) | Math query you submit |
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data to perform our contract with you (delivering and validating your license), for our legitimate interests (securing the Service, preventing abuse, improving reliability), to comply with legal obligations, and — for optional features like Google integration — based on your consent.
License and usage data is stored in Supabase with access restricted to our servers. Our infrastructure and most providers are based in the United States; if you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed there.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents (CCPA/CPRA) have the right to know, delete, and correct their personal information and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" — we do not sell or share personal information in that sense. To exercise any right, email support@canvaspilot.org. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Note that deleting your data deactivates your license key.
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with parent/guardian consent (see Terms, Section 1). If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact support@canvaspilot.org and we will delete it.
We use reasonable safeguards including verified payment webhooks, row-level database access controls, server-side-only service credentials, and hashing of license keys for analytics. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Policy.

Canvas Pilot is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technologies.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.
Our website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA, meaning some content may not yet fully meet the standard. We have not yet completed a formal third-party audit, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing effort rather than a one-time fix.
Some areas may not yet be fully accessible — for example, certain interactive demos, animated elements, or embedded third-party content. We are working to improve these. If you encounter a barrier, please tell us so we can prioritize a fix.
The website is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) together with common assistive technologies such as screen readers. Older browsers may not support all features.
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Canvas Pilot. If you experience any difficulty, or need content in an alternative format, email support@canvaspilot.org. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
